100,000 visitors to Access Agriculture website

In less than four years, Access Agriculture has reached the milestone of attracting over 100,000 visitors to its website.

To quote Sean Granville-Ross, the Uganda Country Director from partner organisation Mercy Corps, “Access Agriculture has the best and largest online agriculture training video library that is in many languages.”

Access Agriculture makes South-South learning so attractive that 100 countries each sent over 100 visitors to the portal. Twenty five countries each had over 1,000 visitors, who appreciate the site’s easy search function, the quality of the videos, the relevant content and the availability of the videos in international and local languages.

The quality multimedia that is freely downloadable from Access Agricultures’ portal has attracted mainly people from developing countries. Over 40% of all visitors came from Africa and some 15% were from South Asia.

Amazingly, one in four people registering to the portal have been farmers themselves, showing a growing number of farmers is now able to access electronic media directly.

Access Agriculture’s lead partner in Latin America, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), is currently translating the interface of Access Agriculture’s portal into Spanish, which will sharply increase the number of visitors from Latin America.

Since June 2016 all the videos are freely downloadable in 3GP format for mobile phone viewing. This has given a boost to the popularity of the website: By now, 24% of all people accessing the portal use their mobile to do so. Read here an example from India: Village smart phones.

Access Agriculture invites any organisation, agency or company to explore opportunities to bundle services and reach out to farmers with quality farmer training video and audio files.
