Global use

Over 1,000,000 people from across the globe have visited the Access Agriculture website to watch and download farmer training videos. To find out what visitors to the website do with the videos a global on-line survey was conducted in 2021. The 2976 respondents came from 106 countries, mainly from Africa (83%), Asia-Pacific (7%), and the Americas (6%).

They download the videos (75%), fact sheets (43%), 3gp versions for mobile phones (36%), publications (33%) and audio (14%).

Many use the videos for training farmers more than 6 times a year.

Ninety percent of users who have seen at least one video have also shared them and 63% of the respondents share the videos with other organisations; they listed almost 5,000 organisations by name.

Combining data from the 2015, 2018 and 2021 surveys, at least 90 million farmers were reached through Access Agriculture videos, through small media or mass media.

Nearly 50% of the responses said the videos had made a difference in farm families’ lives. “Improved pests management”, “better soil health”, and “better produce” were all noted by over 40% of respondents. More than 30% mentioned “more appreciation of local knowledge”, “involvement of youth”, “better food and nutrition”, “higher profits”, “empowerment of women” and “improved group formation”.

The summary of the survey is available here: Access Agriculture 2021 on-line survey - Summary
