300 million Hindi speaking farmers to benefit from new video platform

Launch of the Hindi website

In honour of the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought (17 June), Access Agriculture is proud to announce the launch of the Hindi version of its video platform www.accessagriculture.org/hi, which offers a rich resource of multilingual training videos on agroecological principles and rural entrepreneurship for the Global South.

Access Agriculture, a world-leading organisation for quality agricultural training videos in international and local languages, promotes environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive development. Its video platform hosts more than 220 videos in over 80 languages, all freely downloadable as video and audio files. The collection includes over 50 videos in Hindi, and this number continues to increase.

The launch of the Hindi video platform marks a major milestone for Access Agriculture as Hindi is the fourth most-spoken first language in the world. The Hindi video platform could potentially benefit 300 million Hindi-speaking farmers and rural entrepreneurs in India.

The launch of the Hindi platform comes just three months after Access Agriculture rolled out the Bangla language version. The platform will allow the growing number of Hindi-speaking users to tap into its wealth of resources in their preferred language.

The training videos available on the platform are classified into various categories covering cereals, vegetables, legumes, sustainable land management techniques, integrated pest management, livestock, aquaculture, climate change adaptation, equipment, post-harvest, processing and marketing, among others.

In addition to videos, the platform includes related audio podcasts and technical factsheets. It features winners of the monthly quiz, Access Agriculture Ambassadors and its growing network of young Entrepreneurs for Rural Access (ERAs), such as Neeraj Kumar, founder of Khetee, an NGO in Bihar, India, which promotes ecological agroforestry.

We invite our Hindi-speaking users to explore extensively the new mobile-friendly site, which has been developed to cater to their needs. We also invite those who are interested in supporting translation of more videos into Hindi, to please contact Mr Raman on raman@accessagriculture.org.

How you can help... Your generous donation will enable us to give smallholder farmers better access to agricultural advice in their language.
