Uncultivated foods

Uploaded 1 month ago | Loading

Forest lands, uncultivated commons and village lands provide an important foraging place for food. Many wild food plants are highly nutritious and many also have medicinal properties. Make posters, food calendars, catalogues and recipe books in local languages. Organise events in local schools to teach children about uncultivated foods, and work with school authorities to discourage unhealthy, processed foods. Learn from knowledgeable people how to avoid over-exploitation. Explore if some of the uncultivated food plants can be grown on barren land near villages.
