Jean Eudes Beugré

holds a MSc degree in Natural Sciences, with a major in Plant Production, from the University Nangui Abrogoua (UNIV-NA) in Côte d’Ivoire. He is pursuing a PhD in Molecular Biology at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Transboundary Plant Pathogens (WAVE), Côte d’Ivoire, focusing on the characterisation of viruses that infect plants. The purpose of his study is to contribute to the fight against plant diseases and improve plant productivity, leading to improved food security of communities. As part of his research work, he trains farmers to recognise plant viral diseases and shows them the methods to control such diseases. Jean is at the same time a First Aider and Risk and Disaster Management Relief Coordinator at the Red Cross in his area. His activities include raising awareness of communities on disaster risks, training and retraining of first aiders, risk and disaster management and disaster response.
