Two Aflatoxin training videos on the Access Agriculture website were featured as Uganda launched a National Awareness Campaign for the Control of Aflatoxins, spearheaded by the Vice President of Uganda, Edward Kiwanuka Sekandi.
The campaign includes a National Action Plan for Aflatoxin Control along with the related information, education and communication materials for creating more awareness about control of aflatoxins.
The Vice President said “to stop the problem we need a multi approach methodology to enable us to inform the farmers, I have seen videos which are clearly hands on for training our farmers.”
The representative of the African Union Commission Partnership for Aflatoxin Control in Africa (AUC PACA) Wezi Chunga Sambo who delivered the message on behalf of the Commission, noted that PACA was committed to ensure all materials that are developed are translated into local languages to help both the farmers and the traders.
