Access Agriculture at Malawi Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (MaFAAS) 2023

MaFAAS

“The Access Agriculture smart projector can transform farmer learning by allowing them not only to gain knowledge about good agricultural practices, but also to put into practice what they see in the videos,” said Blessings Mtembo from CARE International in Malawi, when he visited the Access Agriculture booth at the Malawi Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (MaFAAS) 2023 held recently in Lilongwe.

The theme of the conference was harnessing farmer and stakeholder innovations and extension governance for Malawi’s agriculture revolution. Held over two days, it brought together participants from the government and a range of non-state stakeholders.

Access Agriculture’s booth showcased its video platform as well as its smart projector which enables Entrepreneurs for Rural Access (ERAs) to provide local farming communities with relevant training videos in local languages off-line and off-grid.

The visitors to the pavilion included the Guest of Honour, Geoffrey Mamba, Principle Secretary of Irrigation Services in the Ministry of Agriculture, who represented the Minister of Agriculture;  Carl Larsen, Executive Secretary for the Global Forum for Rural Advisory Services (GFRAS); Silim Nahdy, Executive Director of the African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS); Rex Chapota, Global Senior Advisor for Strategy and Growth at Farm Radio International; and Pearson Soko, Director of Malawi’s Department of Agriculture Extension Services (DAES), among others.

The pavilion offered an opportunity for the visitors to interact with the Access Agriculture team represented by Blessings Flao, Malawi & Southern Africa Coordinator and Vinjeru Mlenga, Entrepreneur Coach for Southern Africa, who were joined by Conscious Jabesi, one of the ERAs from Malawi.
