Iranian students triumph on Access Agriculture website

7 PhD students from the Agricultural Education Department at Razi University in Iran have recently translated and voiced seven videos from the Access Agriculture website as part of their studies.

Professor Kiumars Zarafshani from the Agricultural Education Department who oversaw their work said that doing the translations helped the students with their English, and even despite not having any experience in video production they also learnt a lot about how a video is produced.

Josephine Rodgers from Access Agriculture helped provide some guidance and advice on translating and recording voice overs (all information available from the Access Agriculture website). She then edited the new voice overs onto the videos to create the final videos in Persian/Farsi. Josephine said “I was really amazed at the quality of the work the students did, their timing for each section was perfect, and despite not having access to professional equipment the quality of the voice over recordings was great. Their work is truly a credit to them, their professor and the Department at Razi University. It should inspire other universities!”

Professor Zarafshani has said that a number of the students are interested to continue the work to provide more videos in Persian. He also said “Farmers from the surrounding area come to the college and watch the videos. They benefit from the videos in that they can replicate what they see and try them in their own fields.”
